Across New York City, thousands of refugees are being held in processing centers as the city is overwhelmed by more than 95,000 new migrants who have arrived by bus from states like Texas and Florida.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams a NYC Governor Kathy Hochul requested federal funding, but in the immediate term people are in need of food, clothing, and sanitary supplies. Minimal food is being provided – sometimes just powdered protein – and migrants are going days without the ability to wash their bodies. The conditions are inhumane.
Open Avenues Foundation is partnering with EVLovesNYC, a non-profit organization that aims to end food insecurity in NYC. EVLovesNYC has provided more than 400,000 meals to those in need in NYC and have been at the front lines each day providing food and essentials to migrant families and individuals who are waiting to make their asylum claims and 6+ months for work authorization.
If you want to get involved, please email us here or to sign up as a volunteer visit EVLovesNYC's website.
Please help us by donating what you can – all funds will go directly to meals and supplies for migrants in NYC to make them more comfortable in these horrible living facilities. Any amount is appreciated.
We can make this happen!
